FOUR members of the Whakatane camera club have had photographs accepted for the New Zealand Camera 2016 publication.

They are Maree Wills, Barry Foster, Mandy Hague and Troy Baker.

Ms Hague said successful photographers had been advised recently whether the pictures had been chosen or not.

The book includes 155 images chosen from 913 submissions, lodged by 465 photographers.

Ms Hague said one-third of those who submitted pictures had them accepted.

The volume was a showcase of outstanding images including ablack-and-white special feature with 65 “amazing images”.

Ms Hague said Mr Baker, her husband, managed to successfully submit photos for the book most years.

“But the standard is getting higher and higher every year and it’s harder to get photos into the book.”

The book, published by the Photographic Society of New Zealand, is scheduled to reach camera clubs at the end of September.

Ms Hague said it was a really “high quality” item and was released to a limited number of retailers, “and all members get one”.
