Barry McPhee, who returned as Opotiki RSA president on April 8, said the Anzac dinner on Sunday evening would be the first event of the commemorations with local members and visitors from other clubs attending.
The Anzac Day Dawn Parade will assemble at the RSA at 6am and leave for Omarumutu at 6.30.
“We should be at the marae at 7am sharp,” Mr McPhee said.
A traditional welcome and breakfast at the marae would follow, with Bruce Pukepuke fulfilling the role of RSA speaker.
The parade commander will be Sonny Toi and the Opotiki College Cadet Unit will also be taking part.
Back in town, Mr McPhee said the RSA club would
re-open at 9am.
“We will assemble for the civic parade at 10.30am and we’ll march to the Cenotaph at 10.45am,” Mr McPhee said.
“The guest speaker will be Sonia Edwards.”
