HANDEL’S dramatic Zadok the Priest will launch one hundred singers and musicians into another popular concert next month.

Pop to Pageantry, presented by the Edgecumbe Choir, the Whakatane Community Orchestra and the Youth Choir, is designed to cater for all tastes in music from modern pop to the classics.

Handel, Parry and Franck may not have envisaged their music alongside with that of Queen, Manhattan Transfer and Andrew Lloyd Webber but conducting duo, Tony Hogg and Yvonne Osborne, have.

The result is an interesting mix of styles with Michael Jackson, Leonard Cohen, the Beach Boys, Journey, Jerry Brock and Sting piled together to complete the programme.

The choir, conducted by Tony Hogg, the orchestra by Yvonne Osborne and the Youth Choir led by Tracey Tidd promises an enjoyable evening of local talent.
