AN EXCITING piece of art is being created in the Whakatane CBD this week.
A blank block wall on Richardson Street has been transformed in the hands of two of the district’s best known artists – Owen Dippie and Tame Iti.
Whakatane Sunrise Rotary Club is behind the project, having gained funding from the Southern Trust to commission Kawerau-raised Dippie who has been working collaboratively with Iti in recent months to create the piece.
The large-scale portrait is expected to be completed today.
